For years, members of the Black community have been conditioned to be twice as good; twice as smart, twice as dependable, and work twice as hard to succeed. Often times, being viewed as vulnerable comes with a negative connotation, which results in suppression of our thoughts and actions. So we do everything in our ability to avoid a perception of weakness or incapability. Due to this, we often neglect the time to take care of ourselves.

We get it, a majority of us are 1st generation decedents of immigrants. Our parents have instilled in us to always excel in everything we do because the colour of our skin can only get us so far. With constant hard work, the majority of us don’t know how to be still and curate self-care practices.
